Blending Science and Experience
Sharing breathwork, sleep and nervous system practices rooted in research and practice.
Gentle, practical ways to help you feel calmer, stronger and more resilient.
For people managing stress or simply wanting to reconnect mind and body.
The Approach: We look at overall health and find out your goals. Then I help you build a toolkit of exercises and ways to balance your breath, sleep and nervous system over time.
The Process: We start with a 90-minute initial meeting. I usually recommend 4 to 12 sessions to build new habits that stick.
What to Expect: A mix of assessing where you are, and demonstrating and trialling breathing practices and habit changes. We use simple measurements to track your progress together.
Safety: If there are underlying health issues, I will suggest a GP check-in first to make sure we are supporting you in the right way.
Working Together
About Mary
I am a certified Breathwork Practitioner and trained with Martin McPhilimey (School of Breath Science) and Alan Dolan (Breathguru). I combine an understanding of breathing mechanics with various approaches, including functional and conscious connected breathwork, tailoring them to what each client needs. I have found these practices very helpful in my own life.
For six years, I’ve been a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) contributor with an NIHR Applied Research Collaboration. I actually started this work while I was running an upcycling social enterprise and working with local charities. These experiences - especially working with vulnerable people - mean everything I do is based on high ethical standards, clear evidence, and a deep respect for safety.
My background also includes work long ago with the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. Their main goals for health include a focus on prevention (staying well) and patient self-care (giving you the tools to look after yourself), and influence much of what I do today. I believe prioritising good breath and sleep practices are some of the best tools we have for managing our own health for the long term.
In our sessions I offer a grounded, professional space to help you understand your sleep, nervous system and breathing patterns, and learn how to shift them to improve your everyday life.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Breathwork is generally very safe, but certain techniques may not be suitable for people with specific conditions. During our 90-minute initial assessment, we will discuss your health history in detail. I always recommend checking with your GP if you have any underlying medical concerns.
-
No special equipment is needed. You only need a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down, and a stable internet connection if we are meeting online.
-
No. Breathwork is a support tool, not a medical treatment. It works alongside - not instead of - professional medical or psychological care. I don’t provide medical diagnoses or cures; I share practical techniques to help you manage stress and build resilience. If you are managing a specific health condition, please speak with your GP before we begin our work together.

I’ll let one of my clients answer that:
Mary has a calming, reassuring approach that lets you feel safe to relax - and discover better ways to breathe. I have looked forward to our sessions as they became a process of improvement over time. Following a course of sessions, I now have easy to implement techniques to apply to life situations. Best of all, Mary gives the good stuff away to you - learn her techniques once and you're better equipped to face the world with resilience. A great experience.
